Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas. Big Tex is a cultural icon and beloved mascot of the State Fair of Texas, an annual event held in Dallas, Texas, that takes place over several weeks in the fall. Big Tex is a 55-foot tall cowboy statue, dressed in western attire, and standing tall in the heart of the fairgrounds.
Big Tex was first introduced to the State Fair of Texas in 1952, and since then, he has become an integral part of the fair's identity. He is known for his distinctive voice, which greets visitors with a warm "Howdy, folks!" and his giant size, which makes him impossible to miss.
Over the years, Big Tex has undergone several updates and renovations, but he remains an important symbol of Texas pride and hospitality. He is a popular photo spot for visitors, and many people consider it a rite of passage to take a picture with Big Tex during their visit to the State Fair.

Robert is a self-taught, award-winning photographer whose passion for photography began in high school when he received his first camera as a Christmas gift. Specializing in landscape, outdoor, and sports photography, he enjoys sharing his images with family, friends, and on social media. His work has been published in local media and featured in a luxurious coffee table book sold throughout the Dallas Arts District. He has also earned numerous photography awards across Texas. After retiring from an enjoyable career at Southwest Airlines, Robert now loves traveling with his wife and capturing photographic memories of the beautiful places they visit around the country.
