Artist's Description
The doors of the Alamo are a well-known symbol of the historic battle that took place in 1836 in San Antonio, Texas. The Alamo was a mission and fortress that served as a key site in the Texas Revolution. The doors of the Alamo were made of thick, heavy mesquite wood and were originally intended to be used as shutters. However, during the battle, the doors were used as a barricade to help defend the mission. The doors have since become an iconic symbol of the bravery and sacrifice of the defenders of the Alamo. While the original doors were lost to history, replicas have been created and can be seen at the Alamo today. The entrance to the Alamo, San Antonio Texas.
